I have to admit to being a little apprehensive when I saw this recipe included Tamarind. Having always associated Tamarind with Asian cooked dishes, adding it to a Steak Pie seems a little strange. However, research proved that Tamarind is added to lots of Beef dishes so why not a Beef pie.

The end result was delicious and one that I will certainly use again and again. If you do not want to use pastry then you can add vegetables such as Japanese egg plant and serve in large bowls garnished with micro shoots. All you need to do is after the initial cooking time remove from the oven, add the vegetables and cook uncovered for an additional 10 minutes in your oven or until the vegetables are cooked through.

Finish by garnishing with your chosen micro shoots such as Asian, Lemon Balm or Pea shoots.
